Gold Honours 2026
Recipients of the Gold Honours Award for 2026 were:
Elaine Dougherty, Hukanui - Hamua WI, Tararua Federation
Elaine embraces the values expressed in the Women’s Institute Aspirations – let us be large in thought, word and deed. She has had a lifelong commitment and outstanding service to NZFWI including four years on the NEC and support of the national handcraft competitions with some fabulous work. Elaine is well involved in her community raising the profile of the WI in the area
Fay Leonard, Ohoka WI, North Canterbury Federation
Fay has provided outstanding and dedicated service to WI at all levels. She was on the NEC for two terms followed by two terms as the national president. During her time as president, not only did she manage the organisation through Covid-19 lockdowns but also celebrations of 100 years of the NZ Federation of Women's Institutes.
Judy Wood, Paroa WI, West Coast area
Judy is a popular and capable member of the West Coast area having guided the federation to consider closing while also ensuring the WIs in the district were maintained. A successful transition took place under Judy's leadership. Judy encourages and supports members in all their endeavours. She is a loyal member providing valued service to W.I and keen to see the organisation prosper,.
